A Mother’s Day Special

This coming Sunday will be Mother’s Day. In honor of that, I am sharing some special stories of things I have done with my mom. Some of them may surprise you.

After we had gotten our new travel trailer, I wanted to show it to my mom. So, here she is back on 4/1/2019. She was 96 years old then. We had parked on the side road by her assisted living facility, and somehow, we managed to get her up in it. It wasn’t easy, but she was a willing participant, and I am very proud of her for that. Once in the travel trailer, we played a game of Farkle and had a snack of zebra popcorn. It was even harder to get her back down and out, but we we did it.

January 2016

One year, for Christmas, my daughter, Talia, gave us all a trip to a “painting party”. So, here we all are in January 2016. She is only 94 here.

I like how she is getting into it.
Beautiful!

August 2001

In 2001, back when St. Louis had a football team, I decided to take my twin boys and a friend of theirs to see the Rams practice in Macomb, Illinois. I asked my mom if she wanted to go with us, and without hesitation, she said yes. I told her she would have to get up at 4 am, and she was not deterred – even for a second. My mom was 80 years old at the time! We went and had a great time . It’s special memory for all of us. I do remember, it was a really hot day. We watched 2 practices with lunch at Ponderosa in between. Another fan told us Kurt Warner would come out after the afternoon practice, and he would sit at a table and would sign all autographs and pose for any pictures until everyone in line had their turn. Thank you, Kurt Warner!

Now, I could go on and on with other stories of fun things my mom has done with us and how proud I am of her, but I will stop here. She has a great spirit, and even today, at 97, she is positive, cheerful and grateful – as I am of her. Happy Mother’s Day!

She is a joy!
