Friday Funnies

Dan looking at mountains at Red Rock Canyon in Las Vegas with arms stretched out.

Have you ever felt like this?

This was Dan at Red Rock Canyon Natural Conservation Area in Las Vegas, Nevada. We were taking a tour of Red Rock while we were riding electric bicycles.

At one of the stops, I turned around and saw Dan making this impromptu gesture. To me, this picture, says it all.

That was five years ago.

Two days ago, on Wednesday morning, Dan and I got up at 12:50 a.m We wanted to be ready to click on our chromebook right at 1:00 a.m. in order to make reservations at Yellowstone National Park in August of 2022.

It took 35 minutes of watching the spinning circle of hope, but at 1:35 a.m., we successfully reserved ten days at Fishing Bridge RV Park in Yellowstone National Park.

We can’t wait to stand in one of our most glorious national parks and look to the mountains with open arms and hearts, and try, just try, to take it all in.

  1. Love this. We are fixing to leave next week for a much anticipated camping trip in a Colorado park. And we, too, set an alarm for 12:50am exactly 6 months prior to the first day of our reservation so we could “click” a the exact first nanosecond possible to reserve our spot. Yellowstone is on our list. Someday.

    • We were so excited to get the reservation. We have to be planners these days in order to get those reservations! For Yellowstone, all the campgrounds in the park opened for reservations on June 2nd at midnight Mountain time, and the entire Summer 2022 time frame could be booked. It took me a bit to fall back asleep once we had the reservation. I hope you have a wonderful, wonderful time in Colorado. Safe travels!

  2. Glad you were able to secure those park reservations. We are enroute to Utah taking our two grandson going to 4 of the NP. We make those shuttle pass reservations last month and now we don’t have to have them. But we do get priority to get on shuttle.

You will fall in love with Yellowstone! We did it last year and are going back in July with m sister, niece and her husband . Be sure and go animal watching early evening. Also do sunset and sunrise photos. It was 32 degrees for sunrise but so worth it. Enjoy!

    • Hi Margie! So good to hear from you! Sounds like you are on a wonderful trip with your grandsons. We’re very excited to visit Yellowstone; we have never been there. I do remember you talking about it when we worked together. And I will take your advice about animal watching and the photos. Safe travels, and enjoy making those wonderful memories!

    • Thank you! It is a great place to visit. It was hot and hilly, so taking the tour on electric bikes was perfect! Enjoy your weekend!

  4. Congratulations! We spent a few days at Yellowstone during our 2019 road trip. (We didn’t take the travel trailer that time.) We’ re looking forward to going back for a longer visit at some point.
