I’ve been doing real good with my blog lately. Yep, Getting lots of followers. Every single day. I don’t know why or how. It just started happening. There’s just one little problem.
I’m the follower.
Yep. I keep following my own blog. At first, I would remove myself from my list of those who follow me. But darn it, I kept coming right back. So, then I stopped removing myself, and WordPress still kept notifying me that I had a new follower.
Me.
The count keeps going up. So, I don’t know how many followers I really have. The current count says 467, so maybe I’m up to 10 or 15 people who are not me.
I contacted WordPress. I had to send them a screen shot of the notifications. I’m no WordPress expert, but shouldn’t they know what they send me? Oh well. I try not to ask too many questions, if you know what I mean.
During the chat, the “Happiness Engineer” asked if she could work on my problem and contact me later. Sure. No problem. I thought it’d take awhile anyway. The next time and only time I was contacted was to take a survey on how satisfied I was with the help I received. On the good side, the “Happiness Engineer” was very nice.
Perhaps this is how happiness is engineered for us bloggers – something in the system generates lots of followers who will be receiving our updates.
Since I can’t control what’s happening, I’m just going to accept the fact that I like to follow my own blog.
I just hope I don’t start leaving comments.

Well that is frustrating. That it is happening, and that it is hard to get some technical help. I hope someone can figure it out.

I’ve given up trying to get it resolved. However, it started happening without any reason I am aware of (although there must be a reason), and I’m hoping it’ll just stop for some unknown reason, too. It’s crazy!

Maybe some sort of bug. I agree at this point not worth the effort to try to fix it.

Do you ever get the idea that we have just gone too far with AI and other generated notifications? Like do I really need to leave a review on Home Depot of my satisfaction with my 5 gallon empty water bottle exchange? “It had water in it, which is why I exchanged my empty one for a full one.” I hope your Friday is full of more hilarious “happiness engineering”!

I should be ok. I have been a follower of my own blog for quite some time, a couple of years. This way I can see how my post looks in the Reader Stream.

I wouldn’t question it. I only recently found your blog and am a fairly new follower to your blog. You can look up all your followers somewhere if you so desire, then you can count yourself. 🙂 I follow my own blog too – I think I was my first follower, to check how it works. I do have to admit sometimes I laugh when I write or read my own blog. Perhaps I should start hitting “Like.” The thing is I keep following every day! WordPress keeps congratulating me on getting noticed by Betty.

Well, I haven’t figured out why I keep repeatedly following my blog. But I’ve given up. I am hoping it will mysteriously disappear in the same way that it mysteriously started happening. I do plan to keep the blogs coming; December can be a challenge though. I hope you have a great week ahead!
