A Wild Request

Dan and I have just returned from two wonderful weeks with friends and family in Pentwater, Michigan.

Even with the sun setting at about 9:30 p.m., our days went fast. The good thing is I have several blog posts inspired by our trip – in my mind. They just haven’t made it to the keyboard yet.

I also discovered something really exciting, but that particular post will take some research as I want to learn more about what I discovered. I look forward to writing the post as well as several others.

The thing is – we leave in five days on another trip. We’ll head to Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks. This trip has been a long time in the planning and will likely be our only visit to the area. Neither of us has been there before. We plan to be gone for almost a month. Besides being short on time for blogging, I am not sure how much access to the internet we will have while on our travels.

As such, please understand if you don’t see many posts or comments from me. I hope to have at least one post scheduled. I will also schedule my Wordless Wednesdays and Friday Funnies. These quickies keep my blog active and provide me at least some connection with you all.

Now when I write a post, I want it to be the best it can be. I mull over my thoughts and work for my post to be organized, concise and an enjoyable read. I usually keep my posts in chronological order, but I may deviate from that for a while. Believe me, it’ll drive me nuts to do so; however, I may want to publish something while we are actually on the Yellowstone trip. It’s gonna get crazy, folks!

Finally, please know, I will keep up with reading your posts as best I can. It is likely there will be some I miss, but also please know, I will be back to enjoy your blog posts once again.

In conclusion, I humbly ask you to “bear with me” as Dan and I visit one of our greatest national parks, Yellowstone!

  1. I am excited for you and Dan’s trip to Yellowstone and Grand Teton. You are going to love it and I am sure you’ll find years worth of writing material while you travel.
I wholly understand the struggles of writing on the road. Taking time to write takes away from the time to explore and sightsee. It would help if I was a night owl and wrote after dark, but I am not. I always write in the morning. Of course, you are right to anticipate internet woes. For me, keeping up to date is impossible. I am already two weeks behind on our current trip. I do like staying chronically. That’s a struggle too. Keeping our other social media on the same timeline is tricky. I try to remember that we have to live the adventure before I can write about it. If that mean my blog is late, so be it. If I get two, three, or four weeks behind—oh well. Just make sure you and Dan are having fun and you can tell us about it when you get back. Enjoy.

    • After reading your comment, I may reconsider the chronological aspect. I have 5 posts (in my mind) from our Pentwater trip. One could get tossed, but one will take more time than usual as I want to research. I expect to have lots of post ideas from our coming trip. I do like to be orderly. I guess I will just play it by ear. I prefer to write in the morning; although, I can write later in the day if I am not too tired. But either way, I need my sleep! I do know I am going to focus on living, not blogging, while we are there. We have 4 days in GT and 10 days in Yellowstone. It will go by fast! Thanks for your good wishes. Safe and fun travels to you and Grammi, too!

  2. Safe travels and miles of smiles. And know, whenever you post I’ll be there to read it. Also, don’t let the blog control you. Concentrate on having a good time, making new discoveries, and living life to the fullest. I’m sure everyone will still be here whenever you post. And no-one is going to get upset if you miss a few, or more, So go and enjoy your travels.

    • Thank you. We are staying in campgrounds right in the park (Colter Bay and Fishing Bridge.) I am really looking forward to the trip. I would bet you have many beautiful photographs from your time there. Have a great day!

  3. Betty, listen closely: “Screw blogging!” 🙂
It’s just a blog and everything will be still here when you come back. Of course, you will be missed, but sometimes we have to go away to be missed. I took two very long blogging breaks and when I came back, all my friends and fellow bloggers were still there, it was like time stood still.
So don’t worry, go and enjoy your vacation in the real world, the virtual world will not go away -even though sometimes I wish it would.

Bon voyage! Have fun and enjoy the rest of the summer.

  4. That sounds wonderful! Have a great trip. I am very behind on reading blogs due to my recent girls trip, and I also will have some upcoming posts with some info about my trip. It is hard to keep up in the summer.

    • I look forward to reading about your girls trip. We usually space our trips out more, but with Yellowstone, we had to grab what was available. It’s kind of driving me crazy not to get all my Pentwater posts completed before heading to Yellowstone. Sometimes, it is so stressful being retired. 🙂 I hope you had a great time with your friends, and I hope you enjoy the rest of the summer!

      • We did have a wonderful time on the girls trip. I am also a little stressed getting my blog posts written and published with all the other summer things going on. I try not to worry about it, but that is hard.

        • I guess it bothers me because I like things orderly, but it’s not like this blogging thing is a real job. 🙂 It actually is a good problem to have – we are having so much fun, it is keeping us away from the keyboard! I do look forward to your posts!

    • That would be great to meet! Our paths could cross sometime in the future, you never know! If I recall correctly, you are going to be there with a lot of family. That will be wonderful! Our time in Michigan with family was just great. It’s our first time to the Grand Tetons, so we are really looking forward to it. We are going to a rodeo in Jackson Hole. It so happens, my cousin and his family will be there. That’s actually why we are going to the rodeo. So, I am looking forward to seeing him again. Your trip will be here before you know it!
